The Sustainable Art Project or SAP, it's a collective of works made by artists who are working in a way to reduce their personal environmental impacts within the way that they create their works. Including the use of Alternative process techniques such as cyanotypes as well as finding ways to reduce and reuse waste products.
Background:
The sustainable art project was founded by Kerri-Anne Morris during her 3rd at the university when set the task to create a project with a collaborative element. Being both passionate about environmental issues and photography, she set out to create a collective of work that reflects this. Through the creation of the project, she has used it to learn more about what she could be doing to reduce her own impact directly from other artists. The sharing of knowledge is another key factor in the creation of the project, Kerri-Anne wanted to create an educational resource that shows different ways of creating work in a more environmentally conscious way, from simply reducing water to going out and constructing pinhole cameras. In order to inspire others by providing example of what can be created and what steps can be taken to reduce an artists personal environmental impacts.
Starting out looking at alternative process artists relating the work to photographic elements, for the future she is looking to reach out to and include other artists and craftspeople who create work using other resources.
